Why I Want To Attend College Essay

In the first place, there are many reasons why I would love to attend Spelman College
Summer Program, to name a few it would be an honor and a privilege for me and for my family to witness. According to Wikipedia, it states, "Spelman College holds lots of history, and distinction of being American’s first, oldest, private, and liberal arts historically black College for women.” In addition, my father is a carpenter and he always told me that the foundation of a building is the most important part to keep the building strong. In the same fashion, if I were to be approved for the Spelman summer program this will add to my foundation even if it’s only for two weeks. Furthermore, I am a young African American girl who has studied black history, and religion. I have learned about the many struggles and challenges faced by black people especially black women. Similarly, to be able to walk and spend time at an institution that was established during the era when black women had to take classes in secret and Spelman College awarded its first diplomas in 1887. Additionally, Spelman’s College summer program that is offered during the summer will give me a better understanding of what to expect in the future and how to make the best choices to accomplish my goals. Overall, these are some of the reasons why I would love to attend Spelman College summer program. To emphasize, Spelman College has a lot of history and I would love to be apart of that history even if it's only for two weeks.
