Most terminally ill patients spend the remaining moments of their lives suffering in hospitals. Weak and in pain, they are unable to do things on their own; they now depend on the help from others. Knowing the life they had before their illness or incident, they begin to think their life has no meaning. This is the situation for many people. The terminally ill are being denied the right to die in most states, so I believe euthanasia should be legalized in all states.
Euthanasia, also known as physician assisted suicide, is the painless process of ending the life of a terminally ill patient. I believe life is a matter of choice, and people should have the power to choose if they want to instead suffering through an incurable illness. Not only do patients endure physical pain, but they also encounter mental health issues such as depression. Those who undergo the pain of an illness should have the right to die.

Euthanasia is not a procedure doctors suggest to patients; it is a choice patients come to on their own after doctors have made all efforts possible to treat them. The few states that do allow euthanasia have requirements patients must meet before receiving a lethal dose of medication. For instance, two doctors have to confirm that the patient has a terminal illness and no more than six months to live. In addition, the patient must be in a sound mind when requesting euthanasia, and two witnesses must confirm the request that is made twice in a two week time period. These requirements are in place to insure it is what the patient wishes
