The reputational risk in consumer markets has also made the companies shift their role as only profit maker for shareholder. Today’s consumers know that if they boycott the brands they use, it works. Product boycotts are associated with negative stock market reactions for the company and hence affect the image of the company both directly and indirectly. An example: Nike in the late 80s and early 90’s faced considerable negative publicity for slave wages, forced overtime and arbitrary abuse. In 1997, the company made significant changes by employing 90 people in CSR positions and did independent third party audits of its suppliers in Asia.
LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Transsexual) youth homelessness makes up only 5 to 7 percent of the general youth population, yet up to 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness. Many LGBTQ youth face harassment, victimization, violence, social stigma, rejection, and discrimination in their families, schools, employment, and social settings. LGBTQ identified youth ages 13 to 17, provides important information regarding how LGBTQ young people experience life in their communities. The USA is in the midst of a historic shift in civil rights that began as a state by state campaign that now applies to an entire nation. Out of state special interest groups created Prop 8 which passed by only 4%, was overturned as unconstitutional, while state by state made the shift to recognize all marriages. Since day one, the world has been watching and debating this issue of marriage and legal rights. The question of marriage rights is global not just an issue of the US constitution. Australian Parliament is now in the process of making the decision of marriage equality for Australia by the end of 2016.
Sexuality has always been oppressed by government institutions who agree only with heterosexuality. They oppress with all these laws and campaigns. Some of these laws deny the basic needs to survive like affordable housing and healthcare. Disobey these law result in punishment such as receiving "less funds". Chris Christie the governor of New Jersey introduced in the 10 percent problem would not agree with same sex marriage.
In 76 countries, it's a crime to be gay. In five of those, the punishment is death. In America, at the very least, homosexuals are unrepresented, disowned, or both. While homosexuals can legally marry their partner in some states of America, they can get fired at their jobs; barred from public facilities; blacklisted from their families. This cruel and unfair treatment of homosexuals leads to the firm belief that they should have all the same rights as heterosexuals.
Each person has the right to choose who to love whatever his race, nationality, or religion is, similar to having the right to select the candidate you want to vote for in the political elections, but what about the right to choose who you wish to marry? Lately people are arguing about legalizing same sex marriage and in some countries such as the United States, the law has already been applied in all states since 2015. However, many societies till today are strictly against gay marriage and consider it as a taboo such as Middle Eastern countries and a multiple of examples. Even though same sex marriage is widely supported by many people, it will remain to be an erroneous decision because of several Religious and health reasons.
It is time for gay marriage to be celebrated. I think it is wonderful that the United States is finally catching up to other countries, like Canada, in legalizing gay marriage. Whether a person is gay, transgender, heterosexual, etcetera, they should have the right to get married if they so choose. People of the LGBTQ community should not have to live in fear as they so often do. As the country progresses, there is improvement, but there is are also people are not ready or willing to change their way of thinking.
Love conquers all. Would not love overcome social stigmas put upon two people wanting to raise a family? A spotlighted topic today is the debate of homosexual couples, should they or should they not be allowed to adopt? I firmly believe gay couples should have the rights of any other couples wanting to adopt. Recently the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage.
In a long-sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled by a 5-4 vote that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. “No longer may this liberty be denied,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the majority in the historic decision. “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.” Marriage is “keystone of our social order equal dignity in the eyes of the law.”
Anyone speaking out against gay marriage will be judged and labeled in a terrible way. so of course people are going to pretend to support it, it's not worth all the trouble people will give them for being honest. How can you tell someone that their sexual preference isn't right like who the heck are you to say that? You're not God so you have no right to say what is wrong or what is right.
To most ears, it probably sounds inoffensive. A little outdated and clinical, perhaps, but harmless enough: homosexual. But that five-syllable word has never been more loaded, more deliberately used and, to the ears of many gays and lesbians, more permissiveness. Homosexual’ is the ring of ‘colored’ now, in the way your grandmother might have used that term, except that it hasn’t been recover in the same way. Consider the following phrases: homosexual community, homosexual activist, homosexual marriage.
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child?
Homosexuality was once considered sacred in ancient Rome, albeit being treated poorly since the middle ages. Like this, homosexuality has been suppressed for a long time and thenceforth, the public opinion towards it has been on a downward road until recent years when LGBT groups started stepping up front and coming out along with the increasing controversy towards their rights. The subject of homosexuality has always been polemical. Every once in a while a news article would come up saying something like "Manny Pacquiao provokes storm by calling gay people ‘worse than animals’" or "Sam Smith Talks Coming Out As Gay".
The issue of "homosexuality" seems to have divided the nation. While the matter is still under sub-judice, the debate over the draconian Section 377 continues in the public sphere. It is now no longer is a legal battle as the debate almost settled legally, but the moral argument continues. Ofcourse it is a vague topic as many advocate for it and a lot of people oppose. The fundamental question is whether anyone cares about the moral argument?
Persuasive Writing Techniques Taelyr Simmons University Of Houston Same sex marriage is a disputable topic that has raised controversy in the United States political system. The issue has been a constant recurring discussion between liberals and conservatives. Those in favor of same sex marriage argue on the basis that love conquers all, so everyone should be able to marry the person they love. Many decisions made by politicians on the issue are based off of their religious beliefs.
