What would you do if you were accused for a crime that you did not do? Would you fight for your innocence or would you accept the charges that you did not do just for less jail time? I for one believe that a person is innocent until they are proven guilty. On July 9, 1868 the 14th amendment was passed. And till this day, we the citizens have the equal rights for protection under that law.
I for one am very grateful for this law to passed because we get the protection and privacy we need so the police can not barge in our homes without consent. Without that law, police can just barge in without notice whenever and wherever they want, rather you like it or not. Now these day police must have a warrant, which is a document issued by a legal or government official allowing the police or any other body to make an arrest, search premises, and or carry out actions relating to the administration of justice. Even though there are some good cops that follow these rule, unfortunately there are also some bad cops. No I am not talking about the ones from the tv shows although that is a good topic to talk about too but we don’t have time for that. I'm talking about the ones who think they are above the law since they are cops. There has been many police brutality that exemplifies my case. …show more content…

Cases have been solved faster by using DNA testing than back then where the investigators relied on people’s words and or the cases being dealt in court. Sadly there are more cases where people are manipulate their words and or can make a false statement that can get another person in trouble even though they did not commit. Especially on gruesome cases like murderers, rapist and so on that leads to where the punishment on those type of crimes is the death
