Hundreds of thousands children around the world (Number of Abortions, 2017) are in a live or die situation, in which their mother decides whether to keep or to terminate them. There are multiple issues that Pro-Life and Pro-Choice argue about constantly, trying to justify if abortion should be legal or illegal. While the mother has rights, the fetus also has rights. Medication Abortion (2013) stated the type of abortion procedure you can have depends on how many weeks pregnant the mother is. Most countries in the world have legalised abortion, while there are multiple requirements such as having 2 doctors from different clinics recommend it. Many people believe that the child is alive after conceiving the child so to them abortion is killing the child. There are two ways that abortion can be performed, medically with pills or surgically. The abortion pill is very limited in Australia, but is increasing in availability. Many argue that the women who of the child should make the life or death decision whether to keep her child, which is argued it causes psychological damage to the mother. Recent studies show that it does not cause damage to most of the women who underwent abortion a week after the procedures has been completed (Rocca, Kimport, & Gould, G, 2013). If the child is going to be born with a birth defect that could kill the child very early after the birth, then Pro-choice think that abortion should happen. It all comes down to personal opinion, if it’s right to abort or if the mother should have a right and if the baby is going to have proper care and help with these birth defects.
