A fetus is viable when it is able to survive outside of the womb which typically happens between 22 to 26 weeks or pregnancy. This means that the fetus isn’t considered a human being until the end of the second trimester. It is true that a fetus may have brain activity as early as 6 weeks into the pregnancy but their system for pain takes more to complete. The neuroanatomical system for pain isn’t considered fully developed until the 26th week. Even after its fully developed the fetus might still not feel pain.
