Do you have a pet? Most people in america do have some type of animal. Approximately 44% of all households in the United States have a dog, and 35% have a cat. What if one day you woke up, and your dog or cat had been taken away to a lab. Well for some people and animals/strays this is a nightmarish reality. More than a 100 million animals a year are tested on for makeup, medicine and other things we use everyday. According to the Humane Society, registration of a single pesticide requires more than 50 experiments and the use of as many as 12,000 animals. And the law doesn’t require the use of valid alternatives to animals, even if they are available. The test they do on animals involve burning, poisoning and even poking them with sharp objects. They are abused by being locked up for hours, tortured they are given harmful drugs and they are burned and drugged. After being burned and tortured for hours they are not given any pain reliever. Instead of using a living creature why not use test dummies? Not only would it be better for the looks of the brand they would not have to worry about making people upset. Using test dummies would be easier and safer. By using test dummies they would not have to worry about hurting animals using test dummies could also be helpful because it would make the company look better if people know they don’t test on animals it may make people feel better about buying their brand. When choosing to develop or use new, untested ingredients in their cosmetic products, some companies will conduct new animal tests to assess the safety of these new ingredients. This practice is both unnecessary and inaccurate, and the HSUS actively opposes the choice to unnecessarily use animals in these cruel tests. Some raw materials, used in cosmetics, were tested on animals years ago when they were first introduced.
