Breed Discrimination

What is the problem with Breed Discrimination? The problem is that it is forcing people from keeping or getting new pets due to a flawed system. It says a dog that may have characteristics of what society deems as a dangerous breed, should be not be adopted or kept in a home. This is real problem across the world. There are over 10 states that have breed discrimination laws. What can we do about this? Some solutions can include, use more in-depth research or methods to figure out if that particular dog is aggressive based on its temperament. Another solution would be to ban all breed discrimination laws. Eradicating one breed because of its look will have a long-term effect on society, it will take a working dog completely out of order. …show more content…

DNA tests could be used to see what the dog is mixed with. Research has shown that more little dogs bite than big dogs. Maybe little dogs should be evaluated just as well as the big dogs. If we can develop research and cures for cancer we can most certainly develop a way to test dogs for aggression. Not just by the way they look. There are upwards of 30 types of “Pit bull” breed dogs. People need to be more educated on breeds of dogs for this solution to work. Legislative law makers need to differentiate between these breeds.
