In light of events that have occurred in the great city of Charleston South Carolina. The death penalty has been seen as the only punishment suitable for violent crime committed by Dylann Roof on the night of June 17,2015. Even now with his trial date approaching people are working hard to remove death penalty from modern law for no good reason. The death penalty is not used enough for violent crimes and should be used more. If the death penalty was used more it help reduces the number of violent crimes as well as save money spent on the prison.

Out of that $8.5 billion $31,289 is spent on inmates per year (USDJ). Today in 2016 we have over 2 million people incarcerated in United State prison system. With 590,000 people convicted or accused of violent crimes (Wagner). If the death penalty was used more frequently for violent crimes it would save federal and state governments who knows how much money by not having to house the inmates. If you execute an inmate then you don't have to spend money on feeding them, providing them clothes and also medical care. With that money saved by executing inmates with violent crimes could be used to help improve roads and bridges, as well as help improve the education system. That money could also go towards helping educate the police forces around the nation so they have the ability to help fix relations with any ethnic group. All of these positive things can be achieved by doing many different things, but the simplest way to achieve this is to use the death penalty to punish the scum our nation.
The counter argument to this is that the death penalty is a cruel and unusual punishment. They say that is inhuman and goes against bill of rights.
