We, the undersigned, are writing to convince you, Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Daniel M. Ashe that the wolf is still an endangered species and should be protected under your law.
The wolf has been part of the natural balance for thousands of years and in less than 100 years man through ignorance and misinformation have almost made the wolves disappear forever. We understand that the main problem with wolves is that they can pose a threat to cattle and other livestock owned by farmers and this can be solved by another solution other than taking the Gray Wolves off the endangered species list. If the Wolves are taken off the endangered species list than there is nothing that is protecting them from being killed by hunters and other anti-wolves activists. The Huffington Post website states that at least 1,321 wolves have been killed by trophy hunters and commercial and recreational trappers in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho alone. Wyoming has also sold over 6,000 wolf-hunting licenses this season allowing a person to kill up to five wolves. With the total number of wolves in Wyoming being so low, this hunting season could eventually lead to the extinction of the gray wolves unless we change it. According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources the estimated total state wolf population to be around 800 and they would like trappers and hunters to reduce the population to 350 a number scientists say is not sustainable.
