In 1924, The Society of Human Rights was founded. It was the first documented gay right organization and since then, many organizations and groups were established to help bring out the LGBT community, and while doing so, many states banned same-sex couples from getting married. On March 2, 1982, Wisconsin became the first state to outlaw discrimination based on your sexuality. The LGBT community, especially couples, have had it harder to be more open, despite all the protest and organization that were started. Some states granted full adoption rights while others banned it and only allowed the couples to have a child if the child was biologically related to one of the parents. In 2017, courts made it legal in all 50 states for same-sex couples to adopt. Waiting for a family to give them love. According to aclu.org, there’s been research that states that the U.S is facing a shortage of adoptive and foster parents, which has the kids waiting months, sometimes years longer for parents that will take them in. Even so, a lot of states, like Arkansas, have a very poor foster care systems and don’t care about the child’s well being, and many try to avoid having same-sex couples from adopting, but I feel that in this case, people shouldn’t worry about what sexuality couples who want to adopt are. Kids want a family that will give them love and support. They want a place to call home and if a couple can give that to a child, then it shouldn’t
