Adoption is when individuals or couples acquire a child with no parents or no able guardian. When people adopt a child they are committing to help, love, and care for the child. It is an act of love and a deep wish to raise a child and be a mother or father. Homosexual couples should adopt and foster children. All people have the option and capacity of giving love and care. What gender they fall in love with should not matter in the slightest. Sadly, it does to most but that is something that can change in the future with less judgemental generations. Same-sex couples looking to adopt often run into legal obstacles and challenges. There are beliefs against their lifestyle and for the more traditional family structure. The traditional family structure is more ideal for raising children and producing stability. Having same-sex parents would only produce instability. Society condition people to not accept things that are different which is why it took so very long for same-sex couples to be accepted, partly anyway. Another reason for discrimination against them is the religion that founded America and is very much against homosexualty. The FBI’s yearly hate crime report reveals that out of the 5,818 incidents in 2015, 17.7% were because of the sexual orientation bias. This means the hate crimes on 17.7% of the victims took place because the victims were gay. Eight out of ten LGBT students report being bullied which can lasting effects.
