“You can be anything you want to be when you get older” has seemed to be on repeat like a broken record since I started kindergarten. Well, the adults weren’t lying about that. The one thing they won’t mention to girls however, is that whatever career you do choose, you’ll probably be paid less than you’re male counterparts. That’s right- the gender pay gap affects everyone around the world.

You’re at school and you suddenly feel ill and need to go home early. Which parent will you call first? Your mother or your father? Most people would call their mom. As an office aide, I experience this everyday. Whenever a student needs to call home, they are more likely to call their mother and only call their dad as a last result (When their mother doesn’t answer). Long story short, no one is enforcing this gender role filled by women, so it’s up to the people living in society to alter this
