Genetically Engineered crops have been around for a long time. Recently, with new technology and understanding of these GMO’s, we have found out what exactly they are doing to the environment. There are positive outcomes, and those blind many people from seeing all the harmful outcomes that also come with genetically engineered crops. Everything that happens to the Earth today is pretty much permanent. Especially with this topic, things are mostly irreversible and can even worsen. Many more generations will live on the Earth in the conditions we give them, so the only thing that we can do is to protect the Earth and try to ensure that our future generations do the same. “What’s going on is natural selection,” said Justin Gardner, a professor of agribusiness at Middle Tennessee State University, “weeds were resistant before GMOs. The best way around this is to use different weed killers instead of the same one all the time.”. With GMOs, we can make them disease resistant, which can help to end world hunger. As well as disease resistant, they can be drought resistant, salt-tolerant, and can be grown in poor soil. Since we can change these things, more crops will be harvested and more people will be fed. There will also be reduced chemical use. Since the plants are already weed and insect resistant, there will be less use for pesticides and herbicides. That will produce less chemical runoff and be better for the …show more content…
