In recent years, gun control has become a prevalent topic in America. Americans have always had guns. Historians often say that men with guns on their backs founded this country. State laws once required men to own guns, and several colonies required that an able bodied man from each household should own a gun. A law passed in Connecticut in 1643 stated "at least one adult man in every house to carry a gun to church or other public meetings" mostly for protection and to protect the others in that area. Some gun control laws have always existed in America, though not as extreme as the ones suggested today. Some gun control laws in early America prevented African Americans, Native Americans, and Irish indentured servants from buying guns and prevented people from selling guns to those specific populations ( Background of the Issue - Gun Control - ProCon.org). Although the other side believes that enacting more gun control laws will protect the innocent and prevent further tragedies, respectfully, they believe incorrectly. Gun control laws will prevent the law-abiding citizens from getting the guns they use for recreation, self protection, and hunting. Even if the government passes more gun control laws, they will not solve the problem. They will create more problems. The terrorists who use the guns for villainous acts will still find a way to get guns.
Certainly, the opposition believes that their laws will protect the innocent and prevent further tragedies. Both sides want to
