Different regulations on guns have been a controversial topic in the United States of America since the second amendment was written in December 1791. I believe that guns should have regulations, but liberal states, such as California, New York, Road Island, or New Jersey, should loosen up on gun restriction laws. Also, government funds could be better utilized to other departments to help endure American lives. Americans should also better understand the safety of guns.
California’s standings tend to be more liberal while Texas usually sides with conservatives. Since 1992 there have been 387 school shooting tragedies in America. In specifically California these has been a record high 69 shootings, 86 dead. While in Texas there has been 29 shootings, 17 dead (Hemmingway 1). Statistics say that since John F. Kennedy was assassinated, in 1963, more Americans have shot or killed another American in all of the 20-century wars combined. Approximately 12,000 gun murders and 66,000 non-fatal shootings are committed, per year, by people who do not legally have the right to own a firearm.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States. In 2012 The Federal Bureau of Investigation recorded more than 16.8 million guns were sold in the U.S. The government shouldn’t take away guns in the United States because that wouldn’t help the problem but it would make it worse. The government should make laws to make sure psychotic people get their guns taken away, and prevent them from getting them in the future. The government should make sure we keep guns away from people mentally unstable, modify gun safety laws, and place harsher restriction and getting ammunition. If the government makes these small changes, the United States would be a safer and more protected
