Guns have been an important topic throughout our nation in recent years. Many citizens are protesting for the right to obtain a concealed weapon on campuses, as well as protest going against guns on campus. If guns are on campus there could be an increase in crime or threat to campuses and their surroundings. If every college student has the right to carry a weapon on school campus it could just be adding fuel to the fire. A majority of colleges and schools prohibit the carrying of firearms, which had resulted in a very low crime rate. Pro-Gun movements have been extremely relevant in the past years resulting in students being able to carry concealed weapons on campus in select states. Now schools that have allowed students to carry weapons on campus have made the crime rate rise .7% each year (Armed Campuses).

College shootings can occur when stressed students disagree over any simple subject and the situation could quickly escalate. Allowing a student to carry a gun on a college campus is a risky decision. Students are wanting protection, but if every person on campus has access to a weapon then there is more of a chance for someone to feel threatened.
