The Marijuana Market Medical Marijuana has been a huge debate over the past couple years in the U.S. Twenty of nine states legalized marijuana for medical purposes, and 9 of those also legalized it for recreational use too. The large demand in the United States, is making the legalization an economic success in many states-- especially Colorado. There is a huge demand for marijuana all over the states whether it is recreational or medical, and many times, mainly in the states that do not have it legalized, the consumers go to drug dealers who have un-regulated products, and that puts the consumers at risk. In the past twenty years, the number of people who died from marijuana seems like it should be high, but there has been no deaths caused by marijuana-- more people have died from FDA approved drugs. In Order to actually be killed by marijuana alone, a person would have to consume over 1,500 pounds in under fifteen minutes. Doctors will refer their clients to dispensaries to help their condition. Even for those who know they are dying, they chose to use marijuana for the pain, so they won’t be as miserable. The side effects of the drug are minimal, and as long as it is used in a contained environment where a person will not be driving, there should be no problem. The risks of drugs are known to users, just like cigarette risks are advertised, marijuana risks are too, and they are also not close to being as bad as those of cigarettes-- addiction is a separate issue. Marijuana can be an exit drug and help those who are addicted to hard drugs that kill, but people can also become dependant on weed, and that’s when it becomes a problem.
