The U.S. should be legalizing marijuana and here are a few very good points on why it should be legal. The most important reason is because it is used as medicine. People have been turning to marijuana for treatment since 2700 B.C. In the past few years researchers have referred to marijuana as a miracle drug because it has been able to cure things such as cancer, AIDS, and neuropathic pain. The reason it is so strong and is able to relieve pain is because the plant has an ingredient in it called THC. That is part of why when people take this drug they experience a more positive moods and has less pain. The drug has cured the most common cause of blindness which is called glaucoma. When Colorado first legalized this drug in 2014 they ended up with $63 million and another $13 million for fees. $30.5 million goes back to the taxpayers. Colorado expected to triple the value by the middle of 2015 and they did. Imagine how much money the country would make if the entire U.S. legalized marijuana. Studies have shown that if the entire country legalized marijuana, the U.S. would be able get over $3 billion in just tax! A lot of the money the government earns would go towards improving schools, construction, healthcare, and will even be able to help the poor. Some of it will even be donated. Do you enjoy hearing things that happens around the world such as robbing, murdering, crimes, etc? Well with marijuana illegal it only makes people, especially the youth, have the urge to try it even more. That just causes problems because to be able to get the drug you have to buy it illegally. If this drug is legalized and used properly everyone won’t have to fight the courage of trying it because they will have to use it the way they are supposed to be using
