The legalization of Marijuana has become more and more acceptable as the years have gone by. Fifty-five percent of Americans believe that marijuana should be legal for recreational purposes. As every year goes by more Americans are starting to realize that maybe marijuana isn’t as bad as it seems. As a personal pro marijuana advocate I believe that marijuana is helpful to many people on a daily basis.
While big tobacco and alcohol lobbyists in D.C. using their power to push their products on America’s youth, Marijuana activists are doing the exact opposite. As of right now there are only two states that are 100% legal, these are Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. There are also states that offer medical marijuana only, and then some that have it decriminalized. That makes about half of the United States doing something to reform marijuana laws. There are many mostly southern states that has it completely illegal. Do you ever think that entire United States will someday be completely illegal to use recreational marijuana? Do you believe that this will help or worsen our economy? Theses questions will cause a lot of problems among Americans who have different values, morals, and etc.
One example in particular would be the annual revenue brought in the state of Colorado. The first year the bill for recreational marijuana use, the state brought in a total of 14 million dollars in revenue. Revenue is expected to even double over the course of next year. This revenue was used to improve everything from school funding, to creating programs that help citizens who struggle with drug addiction.
