Today in society, marijuana legalization has become a hot topic. There are many untruths about cannabis, but the truths are slowly starting to come out and there is much controversy over them. There are stereotypical views of what people think as the typical “pot head.” As a former marijuana user, I strongly believe that marijuana should be legalized for all uses.
Only recently, the medical use for cannabis has been approved by some states. As far as 1500 BC there is known medical use by the Chinese Pharmacopeia, the Rh-Ya. By the beginning of the 20th century, physicians had published more than 100 papers in Western medical literature recommending its use for a variety of disorders. Marijuana can replace five prescribed drugs: 1) Vicodin ( Painkillers ) , 2) **Xanax, (Anti- Anxiety Medication ) Not everyone can treat their anxiety with cannabis, It can go both ways. Some of those with anxiety report increased anxiety after using marijuana and others do not. The important thing here is choosing a strain. Sativa and Indica are the two major types of cannabis plants. Sativa plants are tall, loosely branched and have long, narrow leaves. Indica plants are short, densely branched and have wider leaves. Besides appearance, indica and sativa plants are commonly believed to have different effects on their user. Sativa; uplifting, energetic, cerebral, spacey or hallucinogenic, best suited for day use. Indica ; relaxing, calming body buzz and best suited for night use. Choosing a sativa high might be the wrong way to go on the other hand indica works more by relaxing the body and is far more appropriate for those with anxiety. 3) Ambien ( Sleep aids ) One of the most popular reasons to use marijuana medically is for assistance with insomnia. It’s arguably even more effective than pills like Ambien, and far less addictive and dangerous. And honestly, it’s more fun too! 4)
