Imagine having anxiety and not being able to cope in stressful situations. Marijuana can help diffuse those situations, making it easier to get jobs and cope in those stressful situations. Marijuana is a drug feared by many, being classified as the devil’s lettuce and labeled a gateway drug, but it isn't. It is a drug that can help prevent anxiety, can regulate many social disorders, and can calm people down. Alcohol is a legal drug that inflicts more harm than marijuana.“Specifically, it determined that alcohol was a significant contributor to death and responsible for 3.2% of the total burden of disease and injury in Australia, whereas marijuana was responsible for zero deaths and just 0.2% of the total burden of disease and injury.”, stated by Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. The problem is a study conducted by University of Pittsburgh researchers showed that many kids stop at marijuana and don’t progress any farther and the ones that do it has to do with characteristics of where the live. Also one of the main reason people move onto hard drugs our because they have to buy it from a dealer who most of the time have access to other drugs like cocaine and speed and introduce them to it. So if we had legalized marijuana it would make them buy from a legitimate source who won't try and sell them those hard drugs. Also the factors that cause people to try marijuana are the factors that convince people to try hard drugs not the marijuana
