Throughout many years there have been many arguments about the legalization of Marijuana inside of the United States. Marijuana has been used for thousands of years, both for recreational smoking and for making rope and fuel. The split between the good and bad of the plant begin really between 1937 and 1947, where the American government spent over 200 billion dollars paying for a propaganda war, painting the plant as a source of evil. Even after the fact that dating back further to the terms of President George Washington, marijuana was a major cash crop. This goes for the same as President Thomas Jefferson. Some of the reasons giving by people on why Marijuana isn’t legal throughout the nation is simply because of the conations behind the plant. For instance, Under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug on the basis that has "a high potential for abuse." This means that perception is that people who use marijuana, become hooked and become things such as “potheads, stoners, and hippies," and it begins to dominate their lives. The easiest argument made by most users, is that alcoholics become hooked to alcohol and alcohol is perfectly legal throughout America. For smokers who want to get marijuana legalized they need to make the argument that marijuana is not as addictive as government sources claim. Another reason for the ban is that the plant has no accepted medical use and sometimes linked to other drugs. While citizens fight to get the plant legalize really the strongest argument made is the drug cures diseases while it promotes creativity, open-mindedness, moral progression, and a closer relationship with God and/or the cosmos. Considering the fact that the way people already perceive the drug and people who use the drug this approach sounds thoroughly unconvincing to people who don't use the drug
