Marijuana legalization is a common topic that is frequently talked about throughout the world. Though the plant is a drug and is legal in very few states, it is still illegal under Federal Laws. Many like to argue that the drug is harmful to our body and minds. Others might oppose and say it is an antidote to harmful diseases and cancers.
Some of the American population will only believe what they hear about the substance and won’t go off of factual information. I believe that marijuana should be legalized for all the right reasons. Most of the public believes that smoking marijuana hurts your lungs, body, and other vital organs in your body just as cigarettes would. Marijuana is vastly different than tobacco in many ways. Thirty-six percent of people say it is “no more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes.” Though, there are harmful ways to smoke marijuana, there is also many nontoxic remedies to using the plant. If it were to become legal, the plant would create many jobs and economic opportunities for the country. In 2015 the Pew Research Center conducted surveys for the percent of millennials that favor legalization, races that favor legalization, political user's, amount of supporters for the drug, and the amount of people who disapprove the drug.
