Fifty-two percent of Americans over the age 18 have tried marijuana at some point of their lives. Marijuana marketing is very big in the U.S. and many people have smoked marijuana in their lives. No one has ever died from a marijuana overdose. Although marijuana can be addictive to some people, it should be legalized, because marijuana is used for medical reasons, it would help reduce crime, and it is much safer than already legalized drugs. Admittedly marijuana leads people to more terrible drugs; it would help reduce crime. The huffington post stated “For some forms of violence, homicide, and assault ,we found partial support for declines after the passing of this legislation.”(Robert Morris) This shows that by legalizing marijuana every month possibly there could be a reduced amount of crime. Also, there could be a big reduce in violence related crime including homicides and assualts. Researchers in scientific reports state, “Marijuana has the lowest risk of mortality and is safer than the commonly used alcohol and tobacco.¨ This means that marijuana has a low rate of mortality and doesn’t show as much harm as other drugs. Also, marijuana doesn’t have the same harmful effects as many drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. Also huffington post stated, “According to a 1988 ruling from the DEA, a marijuana user would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times the amount of THC in a joint to be at risk of a fatal dose.” Marijuana is very hard to overdose from you would have to take an insane amount to take a fatal dose while other drugs/alcohol is much easier to overdose. Marijuana is sometimes possibly bad for your physical health it has a much less fatal rate than already legalized
