The legalization of marijuana has become a largely talked about issue in recent years. Marijuana legalization can be done in several ways, either recreationally, medically, or decriminalization. Although many feel legalizing marijuana would not produce any economic benefits, there are numerous amounts of evidence to support the opposite. Not only does medical marijuana serve as an aid or cure for several diseases, but it could also replace many products and benefit the economy through hemp production.
Hemp is another name from marijuana, usually referred to as the fibers of the cannabis plant. Hemp can be used for materials instead of medicine. For many years hemp products have been produced all over the world including in China and Australia. The popularity of hemp products stems from a faster growth rate than trees, about 90 days, and the large number of products that can be made with hemp instead of synthetic and environmentally hazardous materials. For instance, hemp can be used to make biodegradable bottles instead of plastics that contaminate the ground and our water supply. Hemp is also a textile used for making rope and paper. In the last decade, many states have legalized medical marijuana, 9 have legalized recreational marijuana, and about 50% have decriminalized marijuana. All aspects of legalization have several visible benefits. While many are still cautious of marijuana legalization, with the growing facts and statistics available to all parties, the benefits of marijuana in any form are hard to deny.
