Legalization of Marijuana Should the US Government legalize medical/recreational use of Cannabis? Why is this always debated in the United States? Why is smoking marijuana in the US frowned upon by its citizens? Think about it, how many people die from alcohol or even tobacco a year. Cannabis is one of the most controversial things in the US. It has been determined by many states that they will try or have legalized the use of cannabis. Many states have also said that they will not allow the use of cannabis for medical or recreation purposes. “At least 14 states are on pace to consider full legalization, either at the ballot box or in state legislatures, during this calendar year. Recreation marijuana is now legal in 4 states, Washington, Alaska, Oregon and Colorado. Many states that have legalized medical marijuana makes you get a card that says you can purchase it for medical use. There are around twenty states that don’t want to legalize medical marijuana. Nine states have voted to allow medical marijuana or decriminalized it.
