Marijuana Should Be Legal Across America Marijuana should be legal across America for both medical and recreational use. Marijuana has medical value to our community, the prohibition of cannabis takes a financial toll on society, and cannabis is less harmful than alcohol and tobacco. Legalizing Marijuana can also create new jobs and save the government a lot of money. Something that can do our country good is still being looked at as if it is a Schedule I drug. “Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence. Some examples of Schedule I drugs are: heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote.” Marijuana should not be classified as Schedule I drug, it is nowhere near as bad as heroin, LSD, or ecstasy. With the legalization of marijuana over the entire country, we could wipe out big drug dealers who make illegal money off of marijuana and start growing marijuana in nurseries that could make it healthier and give marijuana more potential for greatness. With it being legal more people could become growers, farmers, dealers for shops, the possibilities are endless. Once its legal all over the US there could be a brand just for Marijuana, which leads to promotion of the company, sponsorships and so on. In conclusion Marijuana should be legal across America because of its medical values, the money the government will save by ending prohibition, it’s less harmful than already legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco, and it can create new jobs for our community.
