Marijuana! I chose to write about marijuana because marijuana is not legal in most of the United States, but it should be. I am interested in writing this topic because I live in a community where marijuana is illegal and a lot of people are consuming it, so marijuana has a big impact not only in my life but also in my community. The world should care about this topic because research states that not only in jersey city is marijuana illegal and people are consuming it, but in other states they are also selling and killing over it. The sale and use of marijuana should be legal because liquor is legal even though it is worse for your body. Marijuana may get you high, but liquor has the same effect. Marijuana has never been proven to cause harm to the body, but there is not a single record of death due to overdose from marijuana. Researchgate.com states, “Medical Marijuana in California brings in 14 billion dollars yearly. With legalization it is expected to rise 4 billion dollars and that’s only in California.” With the rise of income there is expected to be cuts in government spending. By legalizing marijuana, the crime rate caused by drug trafficking will be reduced. Many people already use or consume marijuana, and others are selling it on the corner. The country should legalize it and make the profits that the drug dealers are making right now. This would also help some cities.
