Even though America has many people who do not agree with the use of marijuana, tests and experiments show that marijuana can make cancer cells smaller. Marijuana can treat a variety different illnesses including seizures. Cannabis can stop people who have seizures by a ratio of a little over 50%. People with mental issues such as depression and anxiety can also find relief from THC. Cannabis also serves as a pain reliever for people who have been diagnosed with scoliosis or other diseases that cause strain on a person's body. Marijuana should be legalized because it’s safer than alcohol, the crime rate of the U.S. will drop, and will bring back more money to the country.
Studies have proven that Cannabis is 114 times safer than alcohol and it’s also non addictive. Both alcohol and tobacco use are legal. Also alcohol and tobacco fall into the same category as “high risk’ drugs such as heroin and cocaine; marijuana is at the bottom of the list. A little over 650,000 people were arrested for having marijuana on them in 2012. Most of these people weren't doing anything out of the ordinary. We spend about 3.6 billion dollars prosecuting people with these laws every year. We could be prosecuting murders, rapist, and people who actually do crimes that affect a person and the people in their lives. Instead, people worry about someone smoking cannabis, when it has been proven that it has no effect on them to do crazy things like alcohol. Cannabis should not be the United State’s main focus on the country’s problems when sober people do worse things than people under the influence of
