Legalize Marijuana
Legalization of marijuana has been a debated for many years now and by law 30 states and The District of Columbia have done just that, including Texas. 9 out of the 30 states that have not only legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes, but for recreational use as well. Marijuana is cannabis grown from the ground with a bigger purpose than what majority of society thinks about this drug. Marijuana should be legalized in all states because it can ensure public safety by reducing crime rates, helps with economic growth all over the United States, and be beneficial to all types of patients suffering from many illnesses and diseases. Before marijuana was legal in Texas for mediastinal purposes, my sister’s doctor recommended that she smoke a “joint” to help ease her pain. I have literally witnessed a miracle because she was having such trouble holding down medications while doing chemo treatments, eating, and even getting up going to the bathroom became difficult. Marijuana has helped Kamesha tremendously and she loves being able to be mother to her children. At first she was accessing her marijuana illegally, but that was the only thing helping her so we felt like it was worth the risk. It has not only help her move around, tolerate and reduce her pain; smoking marijuana has also stopped her nausea and vomiting so she is able to get the proper nutrition she needs. My sister is now able to fully function and re-build her strength after many surgeries and chemo treatments. After witnessing this I am a firm believer that marijuana could help an abundance of other people suffering from illnesses and diseases. I’ve read that marijuana has been used to treat and help with epilepsy, glaucoma, arthritis, AIDS, Alzheimer’s, migraines, psychological conditions and many more diseases, according to Web MD. These reasons alone can prove that this drug would be effective if legalized in all
