In the society of today, the topic of marijuana has become increasingly prominent and controversial. The history of marijuana have almost forever been slanderous, wild claims; though in more recent times it the truths behind the plant have began surfacing. The downside of this is that these truths are of course heavily criticized due to the stigma and stereotypes against marijuana users. This is the result of more than seventy years of propaganda and misinformation spread by private interests. Based on two main arguments of social and fiscals’ reasons, the federal use of marijuana should be legalized in the United States. Several new discoveries and evidence of the benefits of marijuana use have surfaced in recent years. To start, the social reasons behind legalizing the plant are almost unquestionable.
