In the United States, many citizens are victims of sex trafficking. Currently 14,500-17,000 men and women are trafficked every year in the U.S. for sex. The people responsible for this, also known as pimps, target young women and men, mostly 13-17 years old, posing as young adults to lure these children to them. Pimps mostly traffic for sex, money, and/or power. The U.S. has provided the National Human Trafficking Hotline and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2017 as possible solutions to this victimization. However, this problem is still growing and requires the government to take action and raise awareness to eradicate sex trafficking. There are many teens and adults in the United States that are taken advantage of everyday. They are seen as gullible, deviant, prostitutes and they are often overlooked by society. Teens and adults are lured into sex trafficking rings by pimps, gangs, social media, and many other things. These victims suffer many hardships and have to do whatever is necessary to survive. The problem with sex trafficking is that these victims are too afraid to speak up due to the fear of getting arrested for prostitution.
