Sex trafficking is the trade in humans most commonly for sexual slavery, forced labor, or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or for others. When most people think about sex trafficking, they think of foreign countries or places, and women. However, this is not the case. Sex trafficking is a current issue that not only involves underage children, but also men and women, and is also happening in the United States today. There are many young boys that have been and are victims of sex trafficking. In fact, most boys that have been trafficked are overlooked because the people that recognize sex trafficking only allude to the fact that there are many girls that have been victimized by the same thing. The sex trafficking of men and boys seems and sounds like a new concept to a lot of people in modern days when in reality, the number of male sex trafficking victims outnumbers the number of female victims in some countries around the world. Due to this ignorance, thousands of young boys are not found or even looked for. They are abandoned. People assume that young girls are the only victims, and the males are the aggressors. While this is the case in over half of the sex crimes being committed around the world, it is not the case when young boys are trafficked to the same people that girls are. Males tend to be bought usually by older men that are not satisfied with everything they have, and they want something more; so they take advantage of boys that cannot defend themselves. The media, service providers, sex trafficking experts, and first responders have to be aware that women are not the only victims, but humans of all gender are victims. Many believe that when the issue is male prostitution, it is a case of homosexuality, when in reality, a vast majority of the boys being trafficked are not
