With so many people on the roads, it is very easy to cause a car accident. If a driver is distracted by a cell phone, then the chances of an accident are even higher. Some people decided to take that matter into their own hands and they refused to let it go on. Some states have now made it illegal to drive while using a hand-held cell phone. The states with that law in place were right for declaring it illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving because cell phones are too much of a distraction, accidents are more likely to occur when someone is not paying attention, and someone could easily pull over if there is an emergency. A person is too easily distracted by a cell phone and if he or she is driving, that is not okay. Drivers need to be on defense at all time and if someone isn't completely focused on what he or she is doing, an accident can happen all too easily. When someone is distracted, it can take less than 5 seconds to cause a car wreck. Someone's priority should be the road he or she is driving on, his or herself, and the people driving around him or her. If a person is not paying attention, he or she can easily veer into oncoming traffic or off the road. It is dangerous to not have 100% of one's attention on the road. Just trying to make a call or switch the song while driving is enough to leave multiple people dead and all for no reason but someone's selfishness. It is already illegal to text and drive but this new law would include talking on a hand-held cell phone. Some might believe that talking on the phone while driving should remain a legal option but if there is an emergency and someone absolutely must talk on the phone while in route to somewhere, he or she can easily pull over until the call is ended and he or she can pay full
