In the past few years, people around the world have decided to create a new challenge called the Tide Pod Challenge. The challenge is that people film themselves eating the Tide Pod. Once the gel comes in contact with their mouth, it kills any cells that it happens to come into contact with, leaving people with dead cells and damaged tissues in their mouth. People will also feel a burning sensation. Since the gel is so sticky and thick, it could get stuck in their throat, causing people to choke to death. If they don’t choke to death, they will face even more problems. They will have to deal with chemical burns inside of their body. Teens of this era are consuming more Tide Pods because they want to be internet famous. “According to AAPCC data, in 2016 and 2017, poison control centers handled thirty-nine and fifty-three cases of intentional exposures, respectively, among thirteen to nineteen year olds.” Since 2018, the number of calls increased to 184. In reality, their sales have gone up because of all the news coverage and people talking about them. And that’s where the conspiracy theories come in. People started wondering if Tide hired an advertising team that targeted teenagers, so they could get their name out there. It’s fairly obvious that teens love challenges like the warhead challenge, the cinnamon challenge, and the ice and salt challenge. So what if Tide created the Tide Pod Challenge thinking that nobody would actually do it, but the teeanagers would turn it into a meme.
