Problems are all around us; they plague most situations that arise throughout each day. But problems can be solved. They can be discussed, worked through and overcome. So what matters is not the problem itself. It’s the time, effort and research that it takes to solve them. Simply ignoring a problem is the easiest way to deal with a challenging obstacle, especially if it doesn’t directly affect us. So we are forced to make a decision and I choose to take action.
School plays an important part in my life and in the lives of many other students. It’s where we learn, play and grow. But the problem is that Wake County is 857 square miles, spanning all the way from Fuquay Varina to Wake Forest. As of the 2016-2017 school year, it was the largest public school district in North Carolina, and it holds 171 schools with over 159,500 students. The weather greatly varies from one side of the county to the other because of the large area Wake County covers. In the southern parts of the county, not as much snow falls, and it melts much faster, yet school still gets canceled if other parts of the county still have snow. But it’s not unusual for classes to be canceled during a few days of the winter months. So, why does this matter?

It is frustrating to have school canceled when it's sunny outside, with no snow left on the ground. Not to mention that cancellations cause extra stress on the students, teachers and parents. So, I teamed up with four other students to come up with a solution to this
