From 2008 to present there has been a negative change in the United States, whether it be tolerance towards hate, taking away the rights of same-sex marriage and women rights, the way that privilege of having power is being used for negativity instead of positivity. Tolerance toward hate has always been present for diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, members of the LGBTQ community, women, and people with disabilities. I believe since the 2016 election, tolerance towards hate has increased, as a result of President Donald Trump’s acceptance and participation towards these discriminations.
According to the article, Confronting Hate Collectively, “Intimidation and harassment have spiked throughout the United States since the recent Presidential election. Women, people of color, Immigrants, Muslims, Jews and LGBTQ people- including many of our own students-report palpable fear” (Paluck & Chwe, 2017, P. 990). I was very fearful the day of the election. President Donald Trump accepts and participates in discriminating against theses diverse groups. President Donald Trump should not have the right to discriminate in such a way towards people of different color, gender, or religion. Trump is supposed to be a leader. A leader, he is now taking on the responsibility of being President of the United States. He should be making equality for all, he should be supporting diverse groups and make them feel as if we are a united country. We are supposed to be the best country, when he is the one tearing it down. If President Trump can’t do these things them I believe he should be impeached or taken out of office in all. My next solution is for defunding Plan
