There currently is a big debate about whether football should still be allowed after the recent medical studies on professional football players brains and the effects they have from being hit repeatedly over the years. Recently, a disease called CTE has been found in many past players and it is known that this disease is directly connected to football. That has led many people to believe that football should be discontinued. However others believe that is too extreme of a reaction. Even though we know the effects of football and we know that they can be very terrible, we should still have a football team. Yes there are risks to playing and there can be deadly consequences but there are also risks to taking taking a shower and leaving the house which are things we don’t think twice about doing everyday. There are risks in everything we do so to want to eliminate an entire sport just because of these risks is crazy. For instance, football teaches the players that you can’t win by just wanting to win and that you have to put in work and practice a lot. It also teaches you honestly and how to control yourself when something has the opposite outcome as you wanted. Football players are also taught teamwork, discipline, and good work ethic. On top of those things it also teaches sacrifice, respect, and confidence. Football also gives the players another support system and people to talk to when they have something going on in their life. It also keeps the players from drinking, partying, smoking, etc. because they have the understanding that if they did any of those things they would be kicked off of the team.
