Starting Tuesday January 17, 2017 – TODAY - all students must park in the upper student parking lot. This includes late arrival and early dismissal students. We are having to do this because students have taken over the front lot and our visitors do not have anywhere to park. If you are parked in the front parking lot today, talk to Officer Pearson as soon as you can.
Over the summer I interned with this amazing company called, The First Tee of Tampa Bay. This organization wasn’t always known as The First Tee of Tampa Bay, when it started in 1991 it was first called Urban Junior Golf at Rogers Park Golf Course in Tampa. The whole concept behind this organization, was to be an affordable and accessible golf organization for those in the inner city to teach them how to become a better person through their Nine Core Values (courtesy, judgement, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, and perseverance). Their complete mission statement is “The First Tee is a youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people.
Arcis can help by making golf a part of some of these kids lives. By “forging emotional connections” with these underprivileged kids, Arcis Golf is following its purpose and helping the local Dallas community. Golf is a great sport to bond with kids over–and an experience that probably many of these underserved youth might have never had before. Having the opportunity to mentor these kids will change their lives and might even save a
Each year, more colleges are offering college scholarships to guys who are good at cheering, providing them with a decent chance of landing a college scholarship and going off to college (Patrick). Many guys believe that cheering is a girls sport, but I’m here today to inform you about all-star competitive cheering and what is involved in putting together a competitive routine, and at the end I my speech I hope you will be able to see why many guys can benefit from cheerleading. I personally have cheered for 6 years and coached for 2 years when I was in high school, and I loved every seconded of it. Even though competitive cheerleading is seen as a sport that is solely focused on preforming and entertaining, it is also a physically exhausting
I am an 8th grade student at Sandcreek Middle School in Ammon, Idaho. I’m writing to you today to address the problem of school shootings in this country. In just the three short months of this new year, 18 school shootings have occurred. While people have different opinions on this data, the fact of the matter is innocent children are being hurt and many ultimately lose their lives.
HOOK: Hey do you know that kid who everyone considers “weird” that sits in the back of your class who is always biting their nails, wears old clothes and shoes, always smells like alcohol and cigars. You probably always walk past them like nothing and make as if they don’t exist and if they are irrelevant. You probably even have nicknames for them, in which are not nice. Have you ever asked yourself what goes through their heads or if they have feelings or even if they are okay?
Imagine that you send your child off to school one day only to get a phone call home a few hours later saying that they just got shot! You wouldn’t think it was real, you must think they must be joking but there not. Imagine if your child gets sent home miserable telling you there was a shooting at the school and preps and teachers died. That is what happened on December the 14th 2012 in America with kids screaming and gun shots that could be heard all the way from Australia it really was a terrifying day for all. Adam Lanza is the man behind all of this school shooting.
What is The answer for Children with Special Needs? Equine Therapy 1 Imagine being a 2 year old again, and not being able to express your feelings and communicate to the people that you loved. Being the parent of that child, you are looking for anything that will be of benefit to your child. You feel hopeless and frustrated and want to find something that will help bring your child out of their shell.
Would you want to live in fear? Especially at a place that you feel safe. A place that you are required to go to by law. A place that children roam the hallways, learning and having fun. Can you imagine, going to this place every day, until one.
The game is closing down, your team is down by 2 points. Ten seconds are left in the game. Your team gets to throw the ball in from out of bounds. The pass is good, your player runs down the sideline... Pulls up to shoot.
Every kid is a winner. No matter what the score is, the final result or whatever happened on the ice, field, pitch or court, every kid is a winner. At least, that is what participation medals are teaching young kids. When I played youth sports, which is roughly three years ago, we didn’t want to be rewarded because we signed up to play. We wanted to be rewarded after reaching a milestone; first, second or third place.
I have been in school for thirteen years, a staggering 76% of my life; and after all this time nothing has changed. Every single day I get served the same unhealthy, inedible lunch. It is something I can no longer do, I will no longer sacrifice myself to clench my hunger and thirst with this nauseating, unsavory, unappetizing food. Yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many of us do not get to eat breakfast because we are rushing to get to school. So why not fight for a better school lunch that all kids can enjoy and energize from?
Anecdote Suddenly one Friday night, Javier started seeing a bunch of gangsters arriving to the party in which they were at too. They were entering one after another, and began fighting randomly as they walked in. One of the gangsters that had arrived was holding up a gun to Javier and Javier’s cousin panicked that he would be killed. So, Javier’s older cousin runs to the back of his car and takes out a gun and passes it to his friend, he grabbed it and killed the ruthless guy that was going to kill Javier.
By the end of my speech, 212 underprivileged children around the world would be clenching their stomach and wobbling from garbage dumps to garbage dumps, searching for half- eaten food. 5 children in India would leave school to work in a dilapidated undergarment factory for 14 straight hours, enduring whipping, and pain just for 3 bowls of rice. 3 children in Africa would be dead after being beheaded by heartless invaders. The power to change this situation lies with every one of you present today. Basic necessity such as food, basic education, security are few of many things that underprivileged children lack.
‘Poverty’- a simple word with unlimited connotations. Poverty is a universal issue that has been plaguing our Earth for centuries; thus it is essential that the immensity of the situation is acknowledged by everyone. If looked up, you’ll find the exact definition of poverty being: ’general scarcity, dearth, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. [1] Poverty is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and political elements. [2] Poverty may be defined as either absolute or relative.’
