When Veterans where serving they probably didn’t have nice beds or nice clothes. They probably didn’t get very much food or good food. They had hard times, but they were strong during those hard times. When Veterans served they sacrificed a lot. The veterans sacrificed their family and friends not knowing if they would ever see them again.
How do we Keep Abraham Lincoln’s Promise to our Veterans and Their Families? Abraham Lincoln once promised, “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan.” This promise is to remind us to never forget the cost of freedom and what veterans did for our country. How do we as Americans keep his promise?
In Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, he stressed that the citizens should carry on this war “with malice toward none” and “with charity for all.” This statement could be considered self-contradictory because the North had immense amounts of hate for the South, as did the South for the North. Despite their hate for each other, Lincoln had much desire for this war to end quickly, as he wanted to reunite the Union as it once was before this horrendous dispute started. Lincoln found it mandatory that the people relieve all hate for each other in order to obtain a peace that only the end of the war could possibly bring.
These Veterans each day ask themselves where they’re going to find their next meal, and where they’re going to spend the night. Not only that, but many of these Veterans are suffering from diseases and injuring that they sustained in battle. These Homeless Veterans are not receiving help they need from
Veteran’s Day On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month of the year, 97 years ago, hostilities rested between Germany and the Allied Nations, marking the end of “the war to end all wars” (World War One), soon evolving as a day devoted to world peace, called “Armistice Day.” However, at the end of the Second World War, President Eisenhower reformed the day to “Veteran’s Day” – a 24-hour period to recognize and appreciate veterans who serve for our freedom and justice in every war.
While I was gathering my information for this speech, my brother passed by. Out of curiosity, I asked, “Do you know what a Veterans Day is?” His exact words were, “Yeah, we get off school that day.”

They argue that the government should not be spending significant amounts of money to veterans or people that just came out of war. While they acknowledge that some veterans are so psychologically damaged by their experiences in battle that they cannot function properly in society and require disability payments, other veterans, they say, may become unnecessarily dependent on veterans' services. Although, all these are valid arguments that they can make, in the long run by helping veterans out it will greatly impact not only veterans individually but the society in a positive
Could you ever imagine yourself using a sidewalk for a bed? Most people in America can’t, including the veterans who are now living on the streets. In today’s society, most people on a daily basis think about what they have on their agenda and whatever comes on the daily news. Most things you see on the news are things about Donald Trump, car accidents, and deaths. What you don't see is that American veterans that defended our country with their bodies are lying on the streets in poverty.
Veterans need one stop shop in your area where you can give them information and hand out flyers so that they know all of the current places they can go to get assistance, such as church gym, or charity.” This dilemma is ongoing issue in many different parts of the world. It has not have made much awareness around and needs too. With a simple drive, charitable organizations or volunteering in a soup kitchen for veterans could help make a difference. Veterans are some of the bravest men and women that you will ever know. They fought for our country in our most desperate hours and risked their lives so we could have the chance to live ours. It is such a shame that they are ignored and even homeless in today 's society. I had wondered how we could get veterans of the street and back into the job world.
