This Project is about the five themes of Geography of Peru. The five themes of Geography are Location, Place, Human Interaction, Movement, and Region. There will be information on Peru’s independence and culture as well. In this project, the impact of the five themes on settlement and the economy will also be explained. The impacts could be both positive and negative.
Location is the first theme of Geography. Peru is located on the western coast of South America near Ecuador to the north, Brazil to the southeast. It’s absolute location is 9.1900’S and 75.0152’W. Peru is 496,200 square miles. Also, the capital of Peru is Lima. The major cities are Arequipa, Trujillo, Chiclayo, Piura, Cusco, and Chimbote. Peru is not a landlocked country. …show more content…

One of Peru’s landforms is the Andes Mountains. Peru’s waterway is Lake Titicaca which is 3,232 square miles wide and 12,507 feet high. Also, the climate around January in Lima is 28 degrees Celsius and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. In July, it is 19 degrees Celsius and 66 degrees Fahrenheit. In Peru, terrains are Western coastal plain, and the country also has the Jungle of Amazon Basin. Some of the landscapes is the Coastal Desert. On one hand, people might want to go and visit Peru because of the climate. They would go because the weather might be nice and relaxing. On the other hand, they might also move and leave Peru because of the climate. They might move because the weather might be too hot at some points. There are a lot of animals you can only find in Peru such as a blue and yellow macaw and a vicuna. A vicuna is the tiniest lamoids of all.They are 3 feet (91 centimeters) tall. Since Peru has a lot of things to visit such as the Andes Mountain, Amazon Rainforest people who visit might want to just move there which can impact settlement. Many people might want to travel to Peru since it is in the western coast of South America. However, sometimes that is impossible because of the Andes Mountains. People can still go to Peru, but they have to go through a different country to get there. The Andes Mountain is so high and it is unsafe for a plane or anything else to fly over that mountain. Peru’s government consist of the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. Peru’s languages are English, Spanish, and Quechua. In Peru, some of their instruments are drums, Charangos, conch shell and trumpets. The culture in Peru is very interesting. Peruvians are know as the Incas. They celebrate the Anniversary of the Foundation of Lima and National Contest of Marinera amongst many things. Peruvians also likes to watch bullfighting with their family. Peruvians grows 150 different types of potatoes. Some of their food include beef, potatoes, and rice. The currency in Peru is Sol which is 1 sun, 2 soles, and 5 soles.. Peru is a part of the Latin American Region and has 196 provinces divided into 25 regions. Some of the historical events that happened in Peru were in 1530 when Pizarro conquered the Inca and made Peru a Spanish colony. In 1535, Pizarro founded Lima. Peru gained its independence because of Jose de San Martin. After 400 years of living under Spanish rules, in 1820 Jose de San Martin and the Peruvians wanted Spain to leave. The Peruvians attacked the Spanish and successfully won. Then Jose de San Martin declared Peru’s independence on July 28, 1821. The religion is 81% Roman Catholicism, 1.4% Seventh-Day Adventism, 0.7% other Christian. Religion can be a problem because if there is a budget and one religion needs it for something and a different religion needs it for something else, that can impact
