Pharmaceutical studies is a rapidly growing field because there will always be a need for medication. To become a pharmacist a person must earn their Pharm.D degree at a college of pharmacy. The salary of a pharmacist can very depending on the job level and time spent with the company. States that need pharmacists the most are states with a high number of elderly citizens. A pharmacist must be able to understand the way the drugs work and be able to accurately provide the patient with that information. The technology used by a pharmacist include a label making machine, spreadsheet software and medical software.
The main pro of being a pharmacist include the fact that jobs in pharmacies are growing at a fair pace. Pharmacists make a fairly high amount of money even at the lowest job level. The cons of becoming a pharmacist include the fact that obtaining a Pharm.D degree requires about six years of schooling. Another con is that within a few years the amount of college students studying pharmacy will be close to exceeding the amount of open pharmacy jobs.
