Long term care pharmacists are involved with nursing facilities, often times working with the elderly or the disabled. The benefits include a flexible schedule and the more clinical setting. Negatives include long work weeks and the large amount of time dedicated to paperwork. About a quarter of the pharmacist’s time is dedicated to medication management, another quarter in dispensing, and the rest in data management or patient management.
Personal Statement Many pairs of eyes stared at me, while I gave my first speech at the Sikh Temple of Riverside, on the Massacre of 1984 event that took place in Punjab, India. The speech was based upon a book that I read at my Sunday school while I was in high school, which described the 1984 genocide of Sikhs in India, by anti-Sikh mobs, most notable members of the government, in response to the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Thousands of people were displaced in the massacre and many mothers lost their sons and husbands in these riots. However, till this present day the Government of India has still not actively prosecuted and punished those responsible for the mass killings, and many mothers are still waiting for their sons to return after many years because they don’t if they are dead or missing. This book gave me an insight to the
In third grade, I was assigned to create a project illustrating what I wanted to be when I grew up. At this time, due to my positive experiences with doctors and my desire to help others, especially children, I decided to describe the role of a pediatrician as my future career. Throughout my childhood, whenever asked about my future aspirations, I confidently declared that I would attend medical school and become a pediatrician. However, as I developed, the answer to this question slowly began to evolve as I gained a deeper understanding of my values and the people I desired to serve through medicine.
I felt that out of all my professors, you would have the best understanding of my academic and personal values since I was fortunate enough to be a teaching assistant for your class. You were able to see my work in a variety of different settings during my time as a TA (presenting, collaborating, giving feedback, etc.) as well as my academic ability during my time as a student for Biochemistry 420. Your overall class and teaching style was one of my favorites during undergrad, and I found you and your TAs to be especially helpful and kind.
For the past 18 years I wanted to do something practical and respected. Belonging to the model minority emphasized that belief even more. Due to those factors, I wanted to be an otolaryngologist specializing in laryngology. I thought this way I could get somewhat close to my passion of singing while raking in the prestige and cash. So then I decided to apply to schools with strong pre-med programs, but I also kept in mind my love for music, resulting in me applying to numerous liberal arts colleges.
At the time, I wanted to be a person who will have an impact to save many lives. I take Christ as my role model, the example that I believe we all should follow, he healed those who needed healing and gave hope to those who needed hope. I believe that we as pharmacists are God’s gift to extent his healing ministry on Earth. Furthermore, in a field that is constantly evolving, a pharmacist must be habitual learner.
Opening statement and my highlights of qualification Yes, I have extensive experience in interpreting and providing advice on operating procedures, policies, and guidelines. I am a Quality and compliance professional within the pharmaceutical and research industry, with over 20 years of leadership experience within the US FDA, Health Canada (TPD), OECD GLP, and EMA regulated environments. I have worked for generic pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations, where activities ranged from research and development to the commercialization of products for worldwide market distribution.
I believe in order to be professional a pharmacist must possess trustworthiness, be respectful of others, and demonstrate a capability for teamwork. I believe that having the trust of patients is the most imperative aspect to gaining respect as a pharmacist. As a student in a doctor of pharmacy program, I will exhibit trustworthiness by forging connections with my peers and professors. I believe my inquisitive nature, aimed at getting to know others, and abilities as an active listener will help me to generate relationships of trust with other students and faculty. Forming bonds of trust will be an integral part of my education as I ask questions, actively listen, and express myself and ideas in clear and concise language.
I am proud to be the first daughter of a Nigerian immigrant who came to the United States with nothing but a purpose to build his legacy in a foreign land. When my father arrived, he struggled adapting to the customs and traditions of this country. However, that did not stop him from excelling in his university and building his now successful career as a pharmacist. My main inspiration is my father because he sparked my desire to pursue a degree pharmacy that contributes to science and medicine. He motivates me daily to work hard and to strive for excellence.
It requires a lot of repetitive work C. I can see myself working in this setting. My mentor Michael E. Spiller, who graduated from the FAMU COPPS in 1981 is a retail pharmacist. He has made a great life for himself and is happily retired but I see myself being more diverse and going beyond retail. 2. Hospital – in-patient pharmacy A.
The five of the seven attributes of being a member that i chose are skill, honesty, service, leadership, and responsibility. These five attributes that i chose are important to my Career & Technical class because they are things that should be expected of anybody trying to go into the field of pharmacy. Skill is a ability that is acquired. In pharmacy this is something that we have a few different things that we can gain as a skill. We have to be able to count pills in a specific manner, make IVs while doing so we maintain a sterile and safe environment, identify what types of medications do what, be able to do hard math, and work with people.
Having been constantly sick as a child, I would often visit the physician’s office only to end up leaving with pages of prescription with supposedly illegible script. Because of these numerous prescriptions, I spent more time in the pharmacy than I do at the doctor’s office. During each visit, the pharmacist would explain to me in detail using simple terms how each prescription medicine works and when I should take them. While I was unable to comprehend or understand each word she said, I felt I was being taken care of and given a sense of reassurance like an individual rather than just another patient. If possible, I would like to develop the skills and professional attitude necessary to become such a pharmacist who is actively involved in patient
I have come too far to achieve my goal. Being a pharmacy graduate from another country and not able to practice here in the USA, I went through the whole process of pharmacy school and stand on my grounds for the completion. I want to contribute towards my community and family. I want to hold onto my good foundation in moral values and beliefs of principles. I differentiate myself from other students in past by receiving the quality of education and college experience throughout my schooling.
Career Research: Pharmaceutical and Pediatric Field One career field that I am interested in is pharmacy. I believe that pharmacy would be a good field for me because my mother is a pharmacy technician and since my mom would study medicine I would sit beside her and she would help me learn some things about pharmacy and medicine. Since then, I have always thought of pharmacy as a possible career choice.
I am responsible, focused, and hardworking. I plan on learning valuable skills that will hopefully one day make me a better pharmacist. Please know that this scholarship will make a huge impact on my ability to continue in school and it will be greatly appreciated. Hopefully by sharing the achievements I have accomplished and my career goals, I have been able to give you a perception of the person I am and what I hope to achieve in my life. I have included what I have felt to be some of the most significant influences on my career choice.
