In the movie, “A Death of One’s Own” the controversial topic of physician assisted suicide is discussed. This is a very argumentative topic because there are ethical reasons for both sides. Personally, I believe that death is a peaceful thing that happens naturally to everyone eventually. I understand that a person does not want to live a life where they are unable to function like they would want to, but I don’t think that changing fate is the answer. I would never want someone to be in pain or suffering but I do believe that people die when they are at peace and ready to go so being able to decide when the end is would change this. If I was a doctor and I had a patient who was suffering from a terminal illness I do not think I would be able to administer anything that would result in an assisted suicide. I think the hardest part about dying would be accepting that I can no longer do everyday things that I want to do. Even though this would be hard, I still believe in living every moment of life to the fullest. In the time before my death I would want to be surrounded by friends and family and by ending my life early I would feel like I am being selfish and I would never want them to feel as if I would rather give up than fight and be there for them. When my grandma died I was little but I remember everyone being there and having a great time all the way to the end. I remember how peaceful she was and how she continued to make everyone else feel loved when she was the one who needed us the most. I hope that one day I am able to have this same peace with death. I know that she always knew God had a plan and although that might have been different from what we wanted, she trusted in Him and accepted
