There are new social media platforms everyday, so it can be hard to figure out what each one does and how you can best use them. With functions ranging from quick chat features to group discounts, friends and family may constantly be encouraging you to join this or that site.
Pinterest has become massively successful since establishment in 2010, and continues to attract demographics that are not what you think the typical social media user is. Over 70 million users around the world currently access Pinterest, with more and more users signing up for the free service each day.

You spend countless hours going through every home décor website you can find trying to get ideas for furniture, paint colors, build outs, artwork, and every other minute detail that goes into planning. In the old days, you could cut pictures out of magazines and create a portfolio of all your interests, but these days with everything online, you can have access to all of your ideas easily and from anywhere, whether you use the Pinterest website or the Pinterest phone app.
Gone are the days of trying to visit with contractors or strategize with family members using pieces of paper or long emails full of links. Pinterest makes it easier on you by gathering your pins from across the web, and makes it easier on those you have to work with, by giving them your ideas in a clear and concise way.
Back to the social aspect, as with other social media platforms, Pinterest allows you to both follow users and be followed by users. This is a great way to collaborate on projects or ideas with others, and can be useful for helping you get recommendations and ideas from other users, without having to search the entire web. As with other search platforms, Pinterest gives you the option of searching keywords, topics, and events to narrow down other people’s related pins, which then allows you to repin to your board.
