We’re trying to figure out which kind of political skills do a urban panning student need to master after they graduate. Political skill defined by Ferris is “the ability to effectively understand others at work, and to use such knowledge to influence others to act in ways that enhance one’s personal and/or organizational objectives” (Ahearn, Ferris, Hochwarter, Douglas, & Ammeter, 2004: 311). Thus, people have such political skills mean that they have strong abilities to read, talk and communicate with others as well as understanding the ideas of other people. Then the first one which we should obtain to be expert in political skill should be communicativeness and understandability. Firstly, political skill building should be used to understand others effectively at work, which means it help us improve our efficiency during work and social activities. Leaders comfortable with their influencing skills often have good judgment and discernment, which helps them to gather more precisely information and facts to persuade other people when they encounter with difficulties and disagreements.
