Poverty in the Unites States is something almost impossible to break out of. Minimum wage is not paying enough for those working. Usually, these minimum wage jobs require a high school diploma or equivalent to. Poverty starts with the parents. Parents have a role in society whether they have a college degree, high school diploma, jobless, or a career criminal. Parents are the first teachers to children. The parents in poverty will have restrictions to get their kids what they need and want therefore, psychologically damaging their mind. Implying that, the youth can grow up being career criminals and can result in a plethora of reasons why they have to do so. Firstly, the youth first learn from their parents. Parents in poverty have restricted resources, such as: food, clothing, electronics, etc. Parents are not able to give their children the food they need. They are stuck eating cookies, chips, and frozen foods only. There are not many options for the youth in poverty to eat and, unluckily, do not get the three meals a day that an average person may have. Human beings have survival instincts and the youth are hungry for food. As a result, he/she can rob a food store. This can result in theft/shoplifting. If the parents are reckless enough they will even use the kids to crack the system knowing they will get no jail time if they were to be caught. The kids have no idea. They were never taught right from wrong with the parents a person can possibly grow up with. These parents can be abusive towards the kids. They will feel as if no one is there for them emotionally, pushing them into drugs. Kids starting at an early age are more than likely to become addicted. Addiction will be tough to beat.
