Commonly, this genre of story writing would usually have a simpler vocabulary, as its primary purpose is to scare the reader, but by using a higher, more varied vocabulary, the text is now more informative and serious. I also wrote the story in first person, from the monster's perspective, influenced by my style model, because it makes the story seem more personal for the reader and allows them to feel like this ominous source is speaking in reference to them, which helped me achieve my primary purpose of entertaining/scaring the reader.
