Escalus, the prince of Verona, should not be at complete fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet due to many factors. Prince Escalus banished Romeo from Verona, which caused chaos. The prince made minimal efforts to resolve the feud between the Capulets and Montagues, so Romeo and Juliet had to keep their love for eachother a secret. When Romeo was banished, Juliet was forced to marry Paris against her will, although she ended up not doing so and chose to kill herself instead. The prince gave warnings and threats to people, but never really put them into action, except with Romeo. This shows that he failed to use his powers properly, ultimately causing the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Although the prince had many faults, he was also unaware
